The District Court granted a motion for summary judgment brought by Attorneys April Laws and Olivia Reinhardt. The complaint advanced a claim of excessive force against multiple police officers, Monell liability and pendent state law claims, including battery and negligence, all of which were dismissed. On appeal to the USCA for the Second Circuit, the Appeals Court sustained the dismissal of all federal claims but remanded the single claim of negligence (2026 U.S. App. LEXIS 7913 [2d Cir. 2026]).
